Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been won on hardcourt

A revitalized the Russian player won his maiden title for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging year, achieving just one match at the big events and undergoing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with former mentor his previous coach.

Now working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought competitive victory over Frenchman Moutet.

It is the player's first title after the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt from that period of the previous year.

Success also means Medvedev has secured twenty-one championships at 21 various tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to win a championship is particularly special," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his last six title deciders, comprising in Halle previously this season.

The player's defensive play style and regular outbursts on court had prompted commentators to wonder if his ability to perform at the elite level was finished.

But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, attempting to come to the net and compete aggressively, backed up by an improved serve.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the initial set against the difficult opponent, securing 4 of the final five points to go ahead.

The pair exchanged breaks in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his initial ATP Tour title, gained dominance to push for a decider.

He defended 4 early-game opportunities in a tight final set before Medvedev won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured victory with a rally at the net, with Moutet failing to handle a return after a lengthy match.
